Our Club Story

A meeting of interested residents of Dingley Village and surrounding areas was convened at the Dingley Village Community Centre, Marcus Road on the 11th February 1991, for the purpose of forming a second Probus club.  The meeting was attended by 80 interested people and 4 representatives from the Rotary Club of Dingley Village

The meeting determined that a second club be formed, to be called the Probus Club of Dingley Central, and that it would meet on the first Monday of each month at the Uniting Church Hall, Marcus Road, Dingley Village at 10am

The committee positions of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer were elected with the President also agreeing to carry out the duties of the Activities Director

The Rotary Club of Dingley Village presented a cheque for $250 to the President to assist in setting up the club

At the conclusion of the meeting 50 residents made application for membership

The inaugural meeting was held on Monday 4 March 1991, attended by 54 members; in April 1992 the club membership was 64 and today it is 135

In June 2003 the meeting venue was changed from the Marcus Road Uniting Church Hall to the Kingswood Golf Club.  In 2017 the meeting venue changed to The Salvation Army Kingston City

The club’s success can be contributed to the friendly atmosphere created by the members reflected in the number of close friendships created over the years and the wonderful range of monthly activities and interest groups available to members
